Clifton Bailey

Clif Bailey joined the Child Aid International board in 2008 after graduating with a master’s degree in ethics from Union Theological Seminary (Columbia University).  Clif is passionate about the study of social justice, specifically in that place where theology, public policy, and politics merge.  Currently, Clif teaches ethics at Brown Mackie College in Cincinnati, Ohio, and also teaches ethics and philosophy classes at Cincinnati Christian University.  He lives with his wife Ashley in Cincinnati.

Peter A. Bainbridge

A Doctor of Osteopathy, Pete works at Solo Family Practices and Conservative Family Care, two separate practices in central Ohio. For more than 20 years, he has worked in hospitals and clinics as well as in private practice. Since 1996 he has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at Ohio University. Pete has extensive military experience. Currently in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve, he served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserves. In 2003-2004 he spent time in the Middle East with the U.S. Army. A member of the American Osteopathic Association, Pete lives with his five children in Gambier, OH. He received his D.O. from Ohio State University.

Jared Hamilton

Jared is the founding director of Child Aid International and currently serves as the federation’s president. From 2005-08, he was on the staff of Human & Civil Rights Organizations of America, a national CFC federation, screening charity applications and supporting groups seeking to enter various state and local workplace campaigns including the City of Boston, California, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia. Jared’s wife, Leah, also works with HCROA as director of admissions and member services. Jared received his undergraduate degree from Cincinnati Christian University and is currently enrolled at Andover Newton Theological Seminary as a candidate for master of divinity. He and his wife live in Salem MA.

James A. Smith

Jamie is a Professor of Biblical Studies at Cincinnati Christian University. He specializes in the New Testament, specifically the Pauline Epistles and Biblical Criticism. His most recent book, Marks of An Apostle: Deconstruction, Philippians, and Problematizing Pauline Theology, was published by the Society of Biblical Literature in 2005. Jamie has served as Senior Minister at Bridgewater Church of Christ in Cincinnati, and serves as guest speaker and lecturer at churches throughout the US. He is a writer for the Standard Lesson Quarterly, a pastoral guide used in churches throughout the U.S. He and his wife Mandy are originally from Australia. They have two children and currently live in Cincinnati. Jamie received his Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield in the U.K.

Marlene Tromp

Marlene is a Professor of English and Chair of the Women´s Studies Department at Denison University. She recently authored a collection of essays called Victorian 'Freaks': The Social Context of Freakery in the Nineteenth Century (Publication forthcoming). Her other works include: Altered States: Sex, Nation, Drugs, and Self in Victorian Spiritualism (SUNY 2007) and The Private Rod: Sexual Violence, Marriage, and the Law in Victorian England (U Press of Virginia 2000). She also co-edited and contributed to another collection, Mary Elizabeth Braddon: Beyond Sensation (SUNY 2000). She travels abroad frequently and is currently working on a book about the Titanic. Marlene lives in Newark, OH with her husband James and son Jacob. She received her Ph.D. from The University of Florida.

Brendan Walsh

Brendan is president of Peace and Reconciliation Charities, a federation in the CFC. He is a member of the Salem, MA school committee, a director of several nonprofit organizations including the Plummer Home for Boys in Salem, MA and Axis Mundi, which operates in poor communities in Washington, DC and Brazil. A retired school teacher and school administrator, Brendan continues to educate parents on the importance of reading aloud to children through his company, The Wonders of Reading Aloud. Brendan lives with his wife Katherine in Salem, MA. Brendan received a D.Ed. in Education from Boston College.

Michael Washburn

Michael Washburn is Senior Director for Eastern Forests at the Wilderness Society. He has been involved in environmental work for years, having served as executive director of the Residents’ Committee to Protect the Adirondacks, vice president of the Forest Stewardship Council/US, director of the Program on Forest Certification and a Research Scholar at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and national coordinator of the Sustainable Forestry Partnership. He has also served as an advisor to the USDA Forest Service. Michael serves on the boards of three other national CFC federations: Aging and Disabilities Charities of America (where he is president), Human & Civil Rights Organizations of America, and Peace and Reconciliation Charities. He lives in the Washington DC area with his wife Natanya and their two children. He received a Ph.D. in forest resources from Penn State.
